On Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox celebrated their World Series title. All of the players and managers received rings in a huge celebration. All except one guy.
Colten Brewer didn't receive a ring on Tuesday. He was in the San Diego Padres organization last season and came over to the Red Sox in an offseason trade that occurred in late November.
Despite Brewer's lack of involvement in the ring ceremony, he was still happy to witness the ceremony and watch his teammates get honored.
“I celebrated for them. I was happy for all of those guys. They earned it,” said Brewer to Matt Vautour of MassLive.com. “I was just sitting at home watching games 1 through 5. I think I clicked off on the extra inning game.
“It’s weird how everything falls into place. It’s cool to sit next to all these World Series champions and great baseball players. I’m learning from them and their experiences.”
And, of course, Brewer acknowledged that Red Sox general manager, Dave Dombrowski, discussed the ring ceremony with him and mentioned a silver lining for Brewer.
“(Dombrowski) said ‘You’ll get yours next year,’” Brewer said, per Vautour.
Of course, if Brewer wants that to happen, the Red Sox are going to have to turn things around. They have started off the season just 3-9. Since the Wild Card was initiated in 1995, only three teams have made the playoffs after starting with a record of 3-9 or worse.

So far in 2019, Brewer has been a bright spot out of the bullpen. He has pitched 4 2/3 innings over five outings. He has a 1.93 ERA and an 0-1 record.
