Dave Roberts on ovation: ‘It sent chills down my spine'

Though Dave Roberts is the enemy in Boston for this year's World Series, he will always have a special place in Red Sox fans' hearts.

Boston forever will appreciate Roberts for his crucial 2004 ALCS steal vs the Yankees. That was evident Tuesday night when the Dodgers manager received a thunderous ovation as he was introduced prior to Game 1.

Roberts talked to ESPN's Buster Olney about what the ovation meant to him.

"I was hoping. For me to take the field at Fenway Park and get introduced and be received like that, it sent chills down my spine," Roberts said. "This is just such an amazing fan base, and so passionate and knowledgeable. For me to be looked at in this light, it's something that is very near and dear to me."

Red Sox fans will be going wild for more members of the 2004 Red Sox in Game 2, as several of the '04 champions will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
