During a press conference on Wednesday, officials in the Dominican Republic revealed that David Ortiz was not the intended target in the shooting that left him wounded on June 9.
According to Dominican Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez, the target was Ortiz's friend Sixto David Fernandez, who was sitting at the Red Sox legend's table.

“It’s shameful that there’s been all these assumptions about a person of the caliber of David Ortiz. I will not rest until all the people involved are arrested. No act of this nature can go unpunished.“ -Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez.— Marly Rivera (@MarlyRiveraESPN) June 19, 2019
Ortiz has been upgraded to "good" condition according to his wife, Tiffany, and continues to recover at Mass General Hospital in Boston.
