One of the two suspects in the shooting of Red Sox legend David Ortiz will officially be charged.

Eddy Vladimir Feliz Garcia, who was arrested immediately following the Sunday night shooting, will be charged with attempted murder, per Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY.

After the shooting, Garcia was badly beaten by a crowd outside the Santo Domingo bar where the incident took place. According to reports, the 25-year-old allegedly had an accomplice who has yet to be identified.

Garcia's mother told the Boston Globe that her son is innocent and as a motorcycle taxi driver, was an unwitting accomplice to the shooter, who reportedly was apprehended Tuesday.

“The whole world is against him,” Justina Garcia told Maria Cramer of the Globe, adding, “He is innocent. Please investigate this fully. Don’t accuse this innocent man.”

Garcia's lawyer, Deivi Solano, told the Globe that his client is "David Ortiz's No. 1 fan."

“Since [Ortiz] won the World Series in 2004, he has cut out articles and pictures of Ortiz and put them on his walls,” Solano said.

Ortiz currently is recovering from his injuries at Mass General in Boston. On Tuesday, he reportedly took his first steps following his second surgery and spoke with loved ones.

While he remains in intensive care, Big Papi is expected to make a full recovery.
