David Price could be moved up in rotation after leaving Astros start early

Due to flu-like symptoms David Price experienced during his start against the Astros Saturday, he was pulled after just 15 pitches.

Boston could not come away with the win Saturday despite a comeback in the ninth to tie the game, but Eduardo Rodriguez threw six strong innings to lead the Sox to a 4-1 win Sunday.

Instead of waiting for his normally scheduled start, Alex Cora said Price will be moved up in the rotation to face the Indians in a series that begins on Monday, according to ESPN's Joon Lee. Rick Porcello is the slated starter for Monday's game while Chris Sale is set to start the third game of the series on Wednesday, so expect Price to pitch on Tuesday.

This also means that Price won't have to make a start against the Yankees in New York, a park he has rarely found success in since joining the Red Sox. Given his strong start to the year, posting a 3.24 ERA while other Sox starters struggled to find consistency at the beginning of the year, avoiding a potential matchup with the Yankees at this stage could be beneficial in the long term.

Boston's series with the Indians is scheduled to begin at 4:05 p.m. on Monday at Fenway Park.
