David Price dazzles in Game 2 start

David Price was all the Red Sox could ask for and more in Game 2 of the World Series vs the Dodgers.

The left-hander exited the game after six innings, allowing two runs on three hits while walking three and striking out five. Other than a shaky fourth inning, Price was sensational.

He was able to get the monkey off his back with a stellar pennant-clinching performance, but Price is feeling even better after getting the job done in the Fall Classic.

"It's huge. This is the biggest stage in baseball," Price said. "There's no other stage that's going to be bigger than pitching in a World Series game, unless it's Game 7 of the World Series. To be able to do that, it feels good, for sure. I'm pumped for myself, pumped for all my teammates and coaches for us to be two wins away, and I'm 2-0 right now in the World Series, that's a good feeling."

Speaking of being "pumped," no one was more pumped for Price than his manager, Alex Cora.

"On a personal note, I'm very proud for him, very happy for him that now he can keep pitching," Cora said. "Like he said the last time, there's not going to be questions in Spring Training about David Price in October. He beat the Houston Astros in Houston. He beat the Dodgers here in Fenway Park. So I'm happy for that because he deserves it. This guy works, he cares about his teammates, and like I said before, he's one of the best pitchers in the Big Leagues."

Price joined Derek Lowe, Pedro Martinez, and Jim Lonborg as the only Red Sox pitchers to throw six-plus innings and allow two or fewer runs and three or fewer hits in consecutive postseason starts.
