David Price on his 150th win: ‘I'm definitely proud of it'

On Sunday afternoon, Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price reached a milestone.

During the Red Sox' 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers, Price recorded his seventh win of the season. It also turned out to be the 150th of his career.  And when he was asked about the feat, he said he was "proud of it."

“It’s cool. Winning 15 games for 10 seasons,’’ Price said to Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe. “The back of my baseball card speaks for itself and I’m definitely proud of it. I take a lot of pride in it. To have the amount of time I’ve had in the big leagues and win the amount of games I’ve won in the big leagues, that’s awesome.”

Price is one of just 262 pitchers in MLB history to reach the 150-win mark. And among active pitchers, his 150 wins ranks 10th. It's a very impressive accomplishment especially considering his career record (150-77, .661 winning percentage).

The Red Sox will hope that Price can continue to be the team's ace heading into the second half of the season. His 3.24 ERA is best among the Red Sox starters and he trails only Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Workman in wins (Price has 7, E-Rod and Workman have 8 each). If he keeps pitching like this, the team will continue to be pleased with the seven-year contract they signed him to during the 2015-16 offseason.
