After the New York Mets announced the firing of Chili Davis on Tuesday, Ramirez decided to reach out to team owner Steven Cohen directly about the job opening.

It's fair to say Ramirez knows a thing or two about hitting. The Boston Red Sox legend earned nine Silver Slugger awards, two Hank Aaron awards and was a 12-time All-Star during his 19-year MLB career. He was the American League batting champion in 2002 and the AL home run leader in 2004.

Given the Mets' offensive woes this season, they might just be better off throwing Ramirez into the lineup. They rank dead-last in runs scored (76), home runs (18), and hits (177) through 25 games.
Either way, the Mets need some help. Perhaps Ramirez is the man for the job. The two-time World Series champion last was in the majors as a hitting consultant for the Chicago Cubs in 2016.
