Victor Hugo Gomez, the alleged mastermind of the recent shooting of Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz, was arrested Friday, police in the Dominican Republic announced.

Gomez was arrested in the Dominican capital city of Santo Domingo.

More than 10 suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting of Ortiz, who according to Dominican officials was not the intended target.

Ortiz was shot in the back while in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, June 9.

He underwent a six-hour surgery at a Santo Domingo hospital the night of the shooting. He was later flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he underwent a second surgery.

The 43-year-old has been recovering at MGH ever since, and his wife, Tiffany, has been providing updates on his status over the last few weeks. She announced last week that her husband had been moved out of the intensive care unit at MGH.
