Daniel Bard's admirable comeback attempt is complete.
The former Boston Red Sox right-hander, who hasn't pitched in the majors since 2013, was officially named to the Colorado Rockies' Opening Day roster on Friday.

Bard entered the major leagues as a hard-throwing setup man with the Red Sox in 2009. Many believed he would end up being the successor to former Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon, but control issues derailed his career after Bobby Valentine tried to convert him to a starter in 2012.
Now 35 years old, Bard's hard work to return to the mound has paid off as he'll be given a shot to succeed out of Colorado's bullpen during the shortened 2020 campaign.
Who knows? Maybe an NL Comeback Player of the Year award is in Bard's future. In a 60-game marathon of a season, everything is on the table.
