How Red Sox' 2021 World Series odds changed after ALDS win

After beginning the 2021 MLB postseason as one of the longshots to win the World Series, oddsmakers now view the Boston Red Sox as one of the favorites.

The Red Sox had the second-worst odds of winning the title when the postseason began last week, but after defeating the rival New York Yankees in the American League Wild Card Game and then eliminating the AL East champion Tampa Bay Rays in a four-game ALDS series, Boston's standing in the updated betting lines has significantly improved.

The Red Sox, as the wild card team, won't have home field advantage in the ALCS regardless of which opponent they play.

It might not matter, though, especially if Boston's lineup continues to dominate at the plate. The Red Sox lead all postseason teams with a .321 batting average, 11 home runs, 14 walks, 32 runs scored and 65 hits. Boston's pitching can be vulnerable at times, especially the bullpen, which we saw in Monday night's Game 4 of the ALDS when the Rays erased a 5-0 deficit. But overall, it's certainly not a disaster.

The Red Sox could be underdogs in each series they play this October. They seem to be relishing that status, though, if postgame quotes are any indication. This is a very confident team that is coming together at the perfect time.
