Kevin Youkilis has some ideas for MLB rule changes

Death, taxes and talking about rule changes in baseball. People will always want to change the rules, and Kevin Youkilis is no different.

The former Red Sox first baseman and fan favorite gave a few suggestions for the MLB, including a few tweaks to the regular season schedule.

Youkilis wants teams to have Monday's off and play a balanced schedule during the regular season, which is definitely a player-friendly rule change.

He also wants to reshape the playoffs as we know it, and maybe in a good way. Having only seven-game series in the playoffs would take away the five-game format in the Division Series. Teams have been critical of the five-game format in the past due to the fact that a 162-game campaign for eight teams can be decided in three games at the least.

The seeding change would closely mimic the NBA's playoff format by not giving automatic home-field advantage to division winners. It makes enough sense. Why should teams with better records have to play on the road to open a series and in a crucial Game 7?

It's unlikely the MLB adopts any new changes before the start of the 2019 season, but it's clear people want to see some changes. We haven't even gotten to changes that could impact the offseason.
