The Boston Red Sox will be without both Kiké Hernandez and Christian Arroyo for the foreseeable future.
Both players were placed on the COVID-related injured list, manager Alex Cora announced ahead of Friday's game vs. the Cleveland Indians. Hernandez tested positive for COVID-19 while Arroyo will miss time due to being a close contact.

“They’ll be out for an extended period of time,” Cora told reporters. “Kiké has symptoms, so we’ll stay on top of that. Arroyo, he’s just a close contact.”
Yairo Muñoz, who had a 35-game hit streak with Triple-A Worcester, and Jonathan Araúz will take their place on the Red Sox roster. Both are set to play in the series opener vs. Cleveland.
“The hope is for them to get here on time,” Cora said. “If that happens, they’ll start. Yairo will play left. Jonathan will play second.”
First pitch at Progressive Field is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
