A notable player who's returned to the New England Patriots appears prepared for a summer Friday night activity many New Englanders enjoy: taking in a baseball game at Fenway Park.
Kyle Van Noy, who re-signed with the team this off-season, will have unique access, however, when the Boston Red Sox host the New York Yankees for the second game of a four-game set: He'll be throwing out the game's first pitch.
Van Noy, who played baseball in high school, feels a safer bet to throw a strike than Yankees reliever Brooks Kriske, who threw four wild pitches in just 2/3 of an inning as the Red Sox rallied to win 5-4 in the bottom of the 10th inning Thursday. Kriske was in turn demoted to Triple-A following the implosion.
The return to the Patriots for Van Noy follows a one-year stint with the Miami Dolphins in 2020. Prior to that, he played in New England from 2016-19, winning a pair of Super Bowl titles.
