After leaving the hospital last Friday, Red Sox legend David Ortiz released a statement ensuring that he's in good health and promising that "Big Papi will be back soon." Now, on Monday, we have a few more details on Ortiz's health status thanks to his former teammate Manny Ramirez.

Ramirez, who recently visited Ortiz at his home, told WEEI's Dale and Keefe that he "looks awesome."

"We were watching the game and having fun, it was a great time," Ramirez said. "He's walking, he's moving, he's fine."

"All we've got to do is wait and keep praying for him and support him. He's a great guy," Ramirez added.

When he heard the shocking news of the shooting, Ramirez was in Seattle at one of his son's tournaments, he said. And though he noted that the Domincan Republicis a dangerous country, Ramirez noted that he wouldn't be surprised if Ortiz returned to his home country.

"He's still got family there," Ramirez said. "Maybe now when he goes back he's going to have to have some people around him to take care of him but hey, that's his country."

As Ortiz continues to recover in America from the injuries sustained from the June shooting in the Domincan, it's nice to know he's surrounded by supportive friends like Ramirez.
