Michael Chavis makes Red Sox history with 10th home run of career

Michael Chavis just continues to rake.

The Red Sox rookie was the hero on Wednesday night as he provided the game-winning home run in the top of the 13th inning vs. the Blue Jays. Watch below:

That clutch home run marked Chavis' 10th in his first 28 games, making the 23-year-old the second fastest player in Red Sox history to reach the 10-homer mark. George Scott (1966) accomplished the feat in 21 games.

Chavis now trails only Mitch Moreland (13) for the team lead in homers. If he keeps up this pace, he'll find himself on the top of the leaderboard sooner rather than later.

Red Sox Report Card: Grading the defending champs after an up-and-down first half

The official midpoint of the 2019 baseball season has arrived, which means it's time to take stock of the 44-37 Red Sox, who didn't lose their 37th game until Aug. 19 last season, and no, that's not a typo. This year's team has scuffled along, but remains in the wild-card hunt

Until then, we're left to judge what they've done so far via our Red Sox report card. Spoiler alert: there are a lot of C's.
