Michael Chavis shares photos of awesome Ice Horse-themed cleats

Michael Chavis isn't getting a chance to play for the Boston Red Sox during this year's Players Weekend celebration. The talented rookie has been out since August 12 while nursing a sprained AC joint.

Though Chavis did participate in some rehab action in Pawtucket recently, he won't be back with the big-league club until after the weekend. This was certainly unfortunate for Chavis, as he has one of the best nicknames on the team and also had some themed cleats to go with his new-look uniform.

On Saturday afternoon, Chavis took to Twitter to share some images of the cleats he was going to wear during the festivities. The cleats were modeled after a nickname that he has received during his early days with the Red Sox, "Ice Horse."

These cleats are pretty awesome, and it's nice to see that Chavis has embraced the "Ice Horse" monicker. The "Game of Thrones" homage on the cleats is also a nice touch. It's a shame that he won't be able to wear them in game action for this year's Players Weekend, but he can always bring them back next year.

The irony about this whole situation is that had Chavis suited up for Players Weekend this year, he may not have had "Ice Horse" on the back of his jersey. Evidently, he requested for his nickname to be "Chief" for the event before the Ice Horse nickname was born. So, he would have had a chance represent two nicknames with the Chief inscription on the jersey and the Ice Horse representation on the cleats.
