Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez will not make as much money as he hoped in 2020.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Thursday that Rodriguez was unsuccessful in arbitration.
In the end, it's only a difference of about $700,000.

Rodriguez was among the few bright spots for the Red Sox in a disappointing 2019 season. He posted career highs of 19 wins, a 3.81 ERA, 213 strikeouts and 203 1/3 innings pitched. The Red Sox will need Rodriguez to be just as productive or even better in 2020 if their pitching is going to be good enough to help the team contend for a playoff spot.
The 26-year-old veteran is not eligible for unrestricted free agency until after the 2021 season.
