MLB rumors: Potential Red Sox trade target Marcus Stroman traded to the Mets

Cross a potential pitching target off the list for the Red Sox at this year's trade deadline.

According to a report from Jon Morosi, the Blue Jays have agreed to trade Marcus Stroman to the Mets, pending the exchange of medical information.

Stroman was named to his first All-Star game in 2019 and posted a 2.96 ERA with the Blue Jays over 21 starts and 124.2 innings. Stroman will join a Mets team 11.5 games back in the NL East and six games back in the NL Wild Card race.

The Red Sox reportedly sent one of their top advisors to Stroman's start against the Tigers on July 19. While Stroman is out of the AL East for now, it does take one potential trade target for Boston off the board.

The starting rotation's ERA ranks 17th in baseball, and if this weekend's series against the Yankees has taught us anything, it's that this lineup deserves help from the pitchers.

Madison Bumgarner and Noah Syndergaard could be options to bolster the rotation while Kirby Yates and Daniel Hudson represent some possible upgrades in the bullpen.

The MLB Trade Deadline is at 4 p.m. EST on July 31.
