Add another name to the list of players the Boston Red Sox supposedly are interested in.

ESPN's Jim Bowden reported Wednesday the Red Sox are among teams that have been involved in negotiations with free-agent infielder Marcus Semien.

Tomase: Feels like Bloom, Sox are ready to pounce in free agency

While shortstop is Semien's primary position, the 30-year-old also has major league experience at second and third base. Semien began his MLB career with the Chicago White Sox in 2013 and spent the last six years with the Oakland Athletics.

In 2019, Semien placed third in American League MVP voting following a season in which he hit .285 with 33 home runs, 92 RBI and a .892 OPS. His numbers declined sharply in the abbreviated 2020 campaign, during which he hit .223 with seven homers, 23 RBI and a .679 OPS in 53 games.

The Red Sox are expected to make "a series of moves" before the start of spring training next month. Jake Odorizzi, Corey Kluber, Yasiel Puig, and Alex Colomé are just a few of the other names connected to Boston in free-agency rumors this offseason.
