Report: Red Sox can wear yellow City Connect jerseys in playoffs

The Boston Red Sox keep winning games wearing their yellow City Connect jerseys, and if they want to use them in the 2021 MLB playoffs, the league will allow it.

WEEI's Rob Bradford tweeted Thursday, "Just checked with MLB and Red Sox can wear the yellow uniforms if they choose in the postseason."

The Red Sox have won seven consecutive games, with the last five victories happening while the team wore these yellow jerseys. Teams don't typically wear alternate jerseys in the postseason, but if you're finding success using them, why change things up?

Of course, none of this matters if the Red Sox fail to make the playoffs.

They're in a good spot, though. The Sox entered Thursday with a two-game lead on the New York Yankees for the first wild card spot in the American League. The Toronto Blue Jays are 2.5 games behind the Red Sox.

If the Red Sox secure one of the AL wild card spots, they'll compete in a one-game playoff with the winner advancing to the American League Division Series. Boston has not reached the postseason since winning the World Series in 2018.
