MLB Rumors: Red Sox in on Daniel Hudson, may have competition from NL club

The Boston Red Sox seem determined to add at least one reliever ahead of Wednesday's MLB trade deadline.

The Red Sox have "asked about" Daniel Hudson, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Wednesday morning, confirming that Boston still has interest in the Toronto Blue Jays reliever after reportedly evaluating him earlier this month.

The Sox aren't alone, though, as Rosenthal added Hudson is on the Washington Nationals' "wish list" along with San Francisco Giants reliever Sam Dyson.

Rosenthal also confirmed a Tuesday report that Boston is looking at Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Andrew Chafin.

Hudson is on his third team in three years and was enjoying a strong July until this week, as he's allowed runs in back-to-back outings.

Still, the 32-year-old owns a respectable 3.00 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 48 innings and would cost the Red Sox less than a more high-profile bullpen target like Edwin Diaz or Kirby Yates.
