The Boston Red Sox are looking to shore up their bullpen heading into the 2022 MLB season.

According to WEEI's Rob Bradford, the Red Sox have shown interest in free-agent relief pitcher Jeurys Familia. The right-hander has spent nine-and-a-half of his 10 years in the league as a high-leverage reliever for the New York Mets.

Last season in Queens, Familia posted a 3.94 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 65 appearances. The best year of his career came in 2016 when he earned an All-Star nod and saved 51 games for the Mets. He hasn't closed games since 2018, but he's still been a solid arm for the seventh and eighth innings.

Currently, the Red Sox bullpen consists of Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, Josh Taylor, Darwinzon Hernandez, Austin Davis, and Garrett Whitlock. Adam Ottavino and Hansel Robles are free agents after one season with Boston.
