Matz, 30, is coming off a solid bounceback season with the Toronto Blue Jays. The former New York Mets hurler went 14-7 with a 3.82 ERA in 29 starts during the 2021 campaign. For his seven-year career, Matz is 45-48 with a 4.24 ERA in 141 games (136 starts).

The starting pitching market has been hot over the last week with a handful of big names finding homes for 2022 and beyond. In addition to E-Rod joining the Tigers, right-hander Noah Syndergaard signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Anglels and two-time Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander re-signed with the Houston Astros on a one-year deal.
