MLB Twitter roasts Houston Astros for lackluster sign-stealing apology

The Houston Astros kinda sorta apologized Thursday for illegally stealing signs over the last few years, but they certainly didn't sound sorry.

The Astros received unprecedented punishment and fired their manager and general manager in January as a result of Major League Baseball's findings from an investigation into Houston's sign-stealing operation. Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora and New York Mets manager Carlos Beltran also lost their jobs. Both Cora and Beltran were part of the 2017 World Series-winning Astros team.

Astros players Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman, along with team owner Jim Crane gave brief remarks regarding the embarrassing situation at a spring training press conference Thursday morning. It would be an understatement to say their comments were poorly received.

Crane's comments were so incredible that he quickly became a top trend on Twitter.

Stealing signs didn't impact the game? If it had no impact, why did the Astros go to so much trouble to steal the signs and relay them to batters?

MLB Twitter absolutely roasted the Astros for their lackluster apology. Here's some of the best reaction to Houston's remarks.
