MLB will not penalize Astros for sign-stealing allegations

After a man claiming to be an Astros employee was removed from the credentialed area near the Red Sox dugout in Game 1 of the ALCS, Houston was accused of stealing signs.

The Cleveland Indians, who were swept by the Astros in the ALDS, reportedly warned the Red Sox that the Astros might try to steal information from their dugout. The Indians said to have caught a man credentialed by the Astros taking pictures of their dugout with a cell phone.

The MLB conducted an investigation and determined the Astros employee was monitoring the field to ensure the Red Sox weren't violating any rules.

There is no rule against stealing signs in baseball, so it causes the teams to slow down the game to make sure their signs aren't known by the opposing side.

The MLB considers this matter closed.
