“Now what?” Red Sox home opener hype video captures mood of 2019 squad

To turn the page or not turn the page?

That's the apparent dilemma facing the 2019 Boston Red Sox, who limp into Tuesday's home opener against the Toronto Blue Jays with a 3-8 record and a smarting World Series hangover.

But for one more day, at least, Boston's 2018 World Series championship team will take center stage, as the Red Sox will receive their rings at Fenway Park in a (somewhat) star-studded pregame ceremony.

So, how best to acknowledge the 2018 champs while admitting it's time to move on 11 games into the next campaign? The club did its best Tuesday morning with a home opener hype video fittingly titled, "Now what?"

Aside from giving all us goosebumps by replaying Chris Sale's title-clinching strikeout of Manny Machado, the video notes the Red Sox are "up against history," which checks out: No team has repeated as a World Series champion since the 2000 New York Yankees.

The Red Sox insist "history should be nervous," even if Boston's troubling play during its opening West Coast road trip should make fans nervous more than anything.

But perhaps Tuesday's festivities can tie a nice bow on the 2018 campaign and help Alex Cora's squad focus on the daunting task of defending their crown.
