The bats of the Boston Red Sox have finally come alive at Fenway Park Wednesday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Not that the hometown team needed any additional help, but with an 11-run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, Rays right fielder Randy Arozarena's miscue opened the door for three more runs for the Red Sox.
Boston first baseman Bobby Dalbec lifted what looked like an innocent enough fly ball to right which should have ended the inning. But Arozarena took an ... umm ... interesting route to the ball, which ultimately fell beyond his outstretched left arm and to the grass, allowing Rafael Devers, J.D. Martinez and Marwin Gonzalez to come home.
Arozarena was not charged with an error on the play, giving Dalbec his fourth triple of the season.
With five RBIs in the game, Dalbec is up to 46 on the season, good enough for fifth on the team.
