The injury bug continues to bite the Boston Red Sox.
Newly-acquired first baseman Eric Hosmer went down with a left knee contusion during Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The injury occurred when he fouled a pitch off himself in the fourth inning. He was replaced at first base by Bobby Dalbec.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Hosmer was "very sore" after the game and likely will miss Wednesday's contest. But he doesn't expect his new first baseman to be out too long.

"It was on the back knee," Cora told reporters, via MassLive.com. "He’s day-to-day. Most likely, he won’t play (Wednesday). But he should be OK."
Hosmer's injury capped off a brutal Tuesday for Boston. The team announced earlier in the day that left-hander Chris Sale -- already on the injured list with a fractured pinky finger -- suffered a broken wrist in a bicycle accident. Right-hander Tanner Houck later was placed on the 15-day IL with lower back inflammation.
Hosmer was acquired in a trade with the San Diego Padres before last week's MLB trade deadline. The Red Sox will hope to have him back in the lineup sooner rather than later as first base has been a glaring weakness throughout the 2022 campaign.
