Marcelo Mayer can check another major milestone off the list.
The Boston Red Sox' No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft collected the first home run of his professional baseball career on Saturday. Mayer's homer was a three-run blast to right field for the Florida Complex League Red Sox against the FCL Twins.
Mayer also notched an RBI single on the day to finish 2-for-4. The 18-year-old shortstop is hitting .231 with a .718 OPS, five RBI and five runs scored through the first seven games of his pro career.
