Share

The entire Red Sox outfield are among the finalists for Gold Gloves. Right fielder Mookie Betts is trying to win his third in a row while Jackie Bradley in center and Andrew Benintendi in left are seeking their first.

It's the third nomination for Bradley (he was a finalist in 2014 and '16), who has long been considered one of the best defensive center fielders in the game. It's the first for Benintendi.

Also among the Red Sox nominees are first baseman Mitch Moreland, the 2016 winner while with the Texas Rangers, and another former Ranger, second baseman Ian Kinsler, who also won in 2016 and is nominated for the fourth time.

Voting is done by managers and coaches and a sabermetric index from the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR). Eighteen Gold Gloves are awarded (one for each position in the American and National Leagues). A Platinum Glove is awarded the best overall defender as voted by fans.

Other A.L outfield finalists: LF: Brett Gardner, Yankees; Alex Gordon of the Royals; CF: Adam Engel, White Sox; Mike Trout, Angels; RF: Kole Calhoun, Angels; Aaron Judge, Yankees.

Other A.L. 1B finalists: Matt Olson, Athletics; Justin Smoak, Blue Jays.

Other A.L. 2B finalists: Jed Lowrie, Athletics; Rougned Odor, Rangers.
