The Boston Red Sox were in Atlanta to take on the Braves Wednesday night, much to the chagrin of those who dislike watching pitchers step up to the plate.
Red Sox right-hander Garrett Richards had yet to earn a hit in his 11-year MLB career. That all changed in the fourth inning as he notched an RBI double off Braves starter Ian Anderson to give his team a 4-0 lead.
He even remembered to wave to the dugout at second base.
Chalk that up as a win for those who oppose the universal DH.
Richards had 18 career plate appearances prior to Wednesday night's matchup.
