It's back to the injured list for Dustin Pedroia.
The Red Sox placed the veteran second baseman on the IL on Thursday with left knee irritation. Pedroia left Wednesday night's game vs. the Yankees after his first at-bat due to discomfort in the knee.
Pedroia began the season on the injured list and returned April 9. Since then, the 35-year-old has gone 2-for-20 with a walk.
On the bright side, Pedroia's injury reportedly isn't a serious one and he will rejoin the team in Tampa Bay.
The Red Sox will recall right-hander Marcus Walden from Triple-A Pawtucket to replace Pedroia on the roster.
