After injuring his knee sliding into second base Friday night in the Red Sox' 6-1 victory over the White Sox in Chicago, utility man Tzu-Wei Lin was placed on the 10-day injured list and infielder Eduardo Rodriguez, who had been rehabbing a back injury at Triple-A Pawtucket, has been activated.

Lin slid awkwardly into second in the second inning and left the game. After the game, manager Alex Cora said it was a sprained left knee.

Lin started six games for the Red Sox, including his first in center field on Friday. He went 4-for-20 but was valued for his defense. Nunez was 2-for-15 with a home run for the PawSox after a 7-for-44 (.159) start with the Red Sox in 17 games.
