The Boston Red Sox are relying on Chris Sale to give them an early edge in the American League Championship Series versus the Houston Astros.

The veteran left-hander will get the start Friday in Game 1 of the series at Minute Maid Park.

It will be his second appearance of the 2021 MLB postseason for Sale. He lasted just one inning and gave up five earned runs on four hits in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays. Fortunately for the Red Sox, their offense and Tanner Houck bailed him out in a 14-6 victory.

Tomase: Here's the path for Red Sox upsetting Astros in ALCS

As if there wasn't already enough excitement surrounding the series opener, the Red Sox released a hype video on social media focused on Sale.

Check it out in the tweet below:

Sale is no stranger to Game 1 of the ALCS. He pitched in this spot against the Astros in 2018, and the Red Sox lost 7-2. Sale gave up two earned runs over four innings but wasn't credited with the loss.

The Red Sox ultimately won the next four games and the series. Boston is hoping for a better start in Game 1 this time around.
