The Boston Red Sox are staying active despite the ongoing MLB lockout.
The signings of catcher Roldani Baldwin and first baseman Roberto Ramos were made official on Wednesday. Boston also announced the signing of veteran infielder Yolmer Sanchez to a minor league contract. All three players were added to the team's 2022 spring training roster as non-roster invitees.
Sanchez played seven seasons with the Chicago White Sox before spending the 2021 campaign in Triple-A for the Atlanta Braves. The 29-year-old is a career .245 hitter with 32 home runs and 215 RBIs in 657 games. He earned a Gold Glove award with the White Sox in 2019.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is scheduled to address the media on Thursday. According to the New York Daily News, Manfred is expected to announce that spring training will be delayed.
