Stock, 30, was solid for the San Diego Padres during his rookie season in 2018. He posted a 2.50 ERA that season in 39 2/3 innings.

The following year was a struggle, however, as Stock's ERA skyrocketed to 10.13 in 10 2/3 innings of work. The Phillies claimed him off waivers from the Padres in Oct. 2019.

Stock is the second pitcher added off waivers by Boston in as many days. On Saturday, the Sox signed left-hander Stephen Gonsalves from the New York Mets and sent him to their alternate training site in Pawtucket.
