The Boston Red Sox have made a trade with an American League East division rival.
The Baltimore Orioles have acquired left-handed reliever Darwinzon Hernandez from the Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations, the teams announced Wednesday.

Hernandez has spent his entire four-year major league career with the Red Sox.
He posted an 0-1 record 21.60 ERA, nine strikeouts and eight walks over 6 2/3 innings pitched in 2022. His best season came in 2021 when he tallied a 3.38 ERA in 48 games. Hernandez has a 3-4 record with a 5.06 ERA, a 1.73 WHIP, 133 strikeouts and 73 walks over 85 1/3 innings in his career.
The Red Sox have made several bullpen moves during the offseason. In addition to this trade, they've also signed right-handed reliever Chris Martin, left-hander Joely Rodriguez and closer Kenley Jansen.
