Trevor Story earns well-deserved award for stellar week at the plate

Trevor Story has snapped out of his slump and become one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last couple of weeks.

The Boston Red Sox infielder was recognized for his performance with MLB's American League Player of the Week award. He slashed .360/.452/1.120 with six homers and 14 RBI from May 16-22.

Story blasted three of those homers in Boston's series opener vs. the Seattle Mariners on Thursday. The following night, he belted a grand slam into the Monster seats.

It's no coincidence the Red Sox have hit their stride during Story's scorching stretch. After their four-game sweep of the Mariners, they'll ride a five-game win streak into Tuesday's series opener vs. the Chicago White Sox. They'll hope to return home with a .500 record as they leave for Chicago at 19-22.
