Red Sox vs. Rangers lineups: JBJ returns, Marco Hernandez exits

Share

The Boston Red Sox are looking to, once again, break out of a team-wide slump. The team has dropped five of their last six games, including two consecutively against the Texas Rangers. They will have a chance to earn a victory on Wednesday afternoon as Rick Porcello and Lance Lynn face off in a matchup of solid righties.

The Red Sox lineup is mostly unchanged from the unit that they trotted out yesterday. The only big note is that Jackie Bradley Jr. is back in the lineup and will play center. Bradley Jr. had a scheduled rest day on Tuesday and didn't enter the game even after Andrew Benintendi was ejected. He will bat eighth and look to bring his average back above the Mendoza line (currently, it sits at .197).

Hernandez has been solid since being called up from Pawtucket and has gone 5-for-15 with three doubles and three RBIs. But after starting four consecutive games, the team decided to give him a day off.

A loss to the Rangers would push the Red Sox (34-34) to under .500 for the first time since May 7, when they held a record of 18-19.

Here's a look at the lineups for this afternoon's game with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET at Fenway Park.
