Red Sox-Tigers betting preview: Odds, prop bets for series finale

Nathan Eovaldi and the Red Sox look to bounce back this afternoon after the Detroit Tigers grabbed a 6-5 win in 10 innings late Wednesday night. Eovaldi (4-2, 3.63 ERA) will be opposed by Spencer Turnbull (1-2, 4.50 ERA) in the rubber match of the three-game set.

It's just the third time this season that Boston is favored by -200 or more. They split the other two games, both against the Seattle Mariners. The Sox are 7-5 following a loss this season and 7-3 since that wretched opening series against Baltimore. And while we're dismissing that series, Boston is 6-4 in early afternoon contests since those first three games against the Orioles. As for Thursday's starter, the Sox are 4-2 with Eovaldi on the mound.

Detroit, meanwhile, had lost 16 of 18 prior to last night's extra inning win. Now they'll try to solve their early start woes. The Tigers are 3-13 in early afternoon games this season and have lost 11 straight matinees. If you're interested in the run line, which seems enticing, five of those losses were by just one run.
