Red Sox All-Star candidates are plentiful, even if wins haven't been

When the Red Sox steamrolled their way to 108 wins and a World Series title in 2018, they had no shortage of All-Star-worthy performances — and they sent five players to the Midsummer Classic in Washington, D.C.

Flash forward to 2019, and even though the Sox have hovered around the .500 mark, with a 31-29 record through 60 games, they still have several players making a push for this year's All-Star Game in Cleveland.

Could this year finally be the year when David Price makes his first All-Star team since signing in Boston? Could Xander Bogaerts return to the All-Star Game after a two-year hiatus? Will Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez be voted in again after starting last year's game?

These questions and more will be answered over the next few weeks, but John Tomase is taking an early look at which Sox could get the call as All-Stars in 2019.
