Rick Porcello lauds Chris Davis for ‘battling through' 0-for-54 slump

Chris Davis' 0-for-54 slump at the plate finally came to an end Saturday in Boston.

The Orioles first baseman snapped the hitless streak with a two-run single in the first inning. The hit came off Red Sox starter Rick Porcello, who had nothing but praise for Davis after the game for the way he handled things during the infamous skid.

Davis ended up being the O's MVP in their 9-5 win. The 33-year-old went 3-for-5 with four RBIs on the day.

Porcello, on the other hand, had a rough day at the office. The right-hander allowed three runs on six hits and five walks in four innings pitched.

The Red Sox, now 5-10 on the season, will look to bounce back Sunday when they take on Baltimore at 1:05 p.m.
