Swihart to DL; Bogaerts out of lineup again

The Red Sox lost another catcher to the disabled list on Friday when they placed Blake Swihart on the 10-day DL with a hamstring injury.

Swihart left the game with hamstring tightness in the sixth inning on Thursday. Veteran backup catcher Dan Butler, 31, was called up from Triple-A Pawtucket to take the roster spot.

The Red Sox already have catcher Christian Vazquez out for at least a few more weeks after he had surgery to repair a broken pinky finger. Sandy Leon will continue to get most of the work behind the plate.

Swihart began to get regular playing time in Vazquez's absence and hit .412 (14-for-34) in July, including a walk-off double against the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week.

In other injury news, shortstop Xander Bogaerts, hit on the hand by a pitch on Tuesday night against the Phillies, will be out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive game tonight against the Yankees, but manager Alex Cora told reporters before the game that Bogaerts could be available to pinch hit.
