Jonathan Araúz was promoted to the Boston Red Sox under unfortunate circumstances as Kiké Hernandez and Christian Arroyo were placed on the COVID-related injured list. But in Friday night's game vs. the Cleveland Indians, he played the hero.
The Red Sox offense could only muster two hits and trailed 3-1 before Araúz's eighth-inning at-bat vs. Indians reliever James Karinchak. After failing to lay down a bunt twice, Araúz bounced back with a three-run home run to give Boston the one-run lead.
No better time for your first big-league homer of the season.
Araúz's clutch blast proved to be the difference-maker as the Red Sox went on to take the series opener, 4-3.
