WATCH: Michael Chavis launches first-career grand slam in first inning

The Boston Red Sox got off to a quick start in the first inning of their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays. And much of that was thanks to Michael Chavis.

The Red Sox' rookie came up to plate with the bases loaded in his first at-bat of the game. Facing Blue Jays starter Trent Thornton, Chavis was able to clear the bases with a massive grand slam over the Green Monster. It was the first grand slam of the 23-year-old's career and he did take a moment to admire the blast after hitting it.

You can see the moonshot and Chavis' reaction here, courtesy of the Red Sox' official Twitter account.

The ball officially traveled 421 feet and was the 16th homer of Chavis' season. The homer also gave Chavis the RBI lead among AL rookies with 52 total (per the Red Sox Notes Twitter account).

This moment was one of a number of solid ones in Chavis' rookie season. The Red Sox certainly have to be happy with his production (.260, 16 HR, 52 RBIs) in place of the injured Mitch Moreland and Steve Pearce.

15 players likely to be traded by the 2019 MLB Trade Deadline>>>
