The Dominican Republic baseball team's gold medal hopes at the Tokyo Olympics are still alive thanks to Boston Red Sox minor leaguer Johan Mieses.

Israel had a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning of Tuesday's knockout stage game with Mieses leading off.

The Worcester Red Sox outfielder launched a massive home run deep to left field that tied the score at six runs apiece.

The Dominican Republic won later in the ninth inning on a Jose Bautista walk-off single. The United States will play the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night at Yokohama Baseball Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 11 p.m. ET.

As for Mieses, the power he's displaying in Tokyo is not a surprise. He hit 11 homers in 23 games for the Double-A Portland SeaDogs this year before moving up to Triple-A Worcester.
