WATCH: Red Sox score eight runs in the third inning vs Mariners

The Red Sox offense has been raking as of late, and Saturday was no exception as they took down the Mariners 9-5 at Fenway Park.

Boston has now scored 25 runs in the first two games of their three-game set with Seattle.

Most of the Sox' damage was done in the third inning, where they scored eight runs capped off by a three-run homer by Sandy Leon. That inning turned out to be the difference in the win, as Rick Porcello turned in a strong 6.2 innings while striking out five Mariner hitters.

Like everything else, the Red Sox offense got off to a slow start in 2019. After winning a World Series to cap off a 108-win regular season, this team was on track to be as big a disappointment as the 2018-19 Celtics.

As we learned with the Celtics, they had their moments of brilliance and times of horrific play. The key for the Red Sox will be to sustain their recent success. Everything we saw last year suggests they should.
