Xander Bogaerts recorded his 1,000th hit Saturday afternoon against the Yankees and joined Tris Speaker and Bobby Doerr in the Red Sox history books.

Bogaerts is in the midst of the best season of his career. He's hitting .309 with career-highs in home runs (31), RBI (105) and doubles (49). The Red Sox haven't been as successful as a team in 2019 thanks to the pitching staff, but Bogaerts has helped the offense maintain elite production by becoming one of baseball's best all-around shortstops.

Now that he has crossed the 1,000-hit mark, he joins Red Sox legends Tris Speaker and Bobby Doerr as the only Red Sox players to record 1000 hits before their 27th birthday, according to Ian Browne

Doerr was a nine-time All-Star and Hall of Fame second baseman, while Speaker finished his career with over 3,500 hits and is baseball's all-time leader in doubles. Not bad company to have if you're Bogaerts.

Red Sox fans have to love what they're getting out of their home-grown shortstop, and after signing a six-year contract extension at the beginning of the season, Bogaerts will continue to be a fixture at a pivotal spot on the field.
