With a new training facility up and running, the New England Revolution can't wait to get the MLS season underway.
With the new season comes some changes, and newcomer Seth Sinovic couldn't believe how supportive and confident members of his new club have been heading into preseason workouts.
“The vibe has been unbelievable,” Sinovic said, according to Elizabeth Pehota of revolutionsoccer.net. “Everybody’s excited to come in every day, everybody’s excited to get to work, and I think that speaks to where the club is right now, not only from the facility, but as a team. I think everybody’s feeling confident going into the year.”
This newfound confidence has pushed the players to succeed in all aspects of their game. Veteran Andrew Farrell detailed the importance of his new teammates meshing well with the core group.
“Having a lot of that core back and then adding these guys that we’ve brought in who’ve really meshed in really well, [it's a] really talented group of guys,” Farrell said. “I think we’re probably two, three deep in each position, and competition is really good. [Coach] Bruce [Arena] has set the bar high for what he expects and guys are pushing each other every day.”
It can be difficult adjusting to life in a new city with a new team, and another newcomer, Adam Buksa, noted what he needs to work on ahead of the season to make sure he's playing at a high level.
“This is a crucial part of season preparation, so we need to focus on it,” said Buksa, the Polish striker signed to a designated player contract on New Year's Eve. “We need to work hard to get used to all the jobs. It’s very important for me, personally, to know the players and to know on the pitch, outside the pitch, so I have to use this time as much as possible.”
The Revs, who reached the playoffs last season for the first time since 2015, open their preseason with a friendly against the Los Angeles Galaxy in L.A. on Feb. 10 and after four more preseason matches, they open the regular season by traveling to Montreal to face the Impact on Feb. 29.
